Sinai peninsula
Here's an excellent series of photos from Flickr user cjb22, showing low-altitude views of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, just outside the city of Sharm el-Sheikh. The first image looks west across the plains just north of the airport, showing Gebel Qaida just left of center, and Gebel Umm Tartir on the right.
The next image shows an enclosed compound near the base of Gebel Umm Tartir. The compound is much less-developed in the Google Earth view, indicating that it was constructed fairly recently.
About eight kilometers north, the final image shows a spectacular view of an extensive wadi complex snaking past Gebel Muweirid, near the center of the image.
