Colorado and Utah
Here's a pair of photos from the western United States, taken by Flickr user AH in Pgh. The first image comes from Dolores County in southwestern Colorado. In the foreground is Disappointment Creek. The canyon on the right is Warden Draw; the white area near the center of the photo is called Alkali Wash.
About 140 miles to the southwest, the next image shows Utah's Lake Powell, in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in southern Utah. The lake lies along the Colorado River; the image here shows the Escalante River entering from the upper left to merge with the Colorado.
