Aerial views of Iran
Here's a great series of photos from Flickr user Leoniedas, taken on a flight across western Iran. We start in Iran's Fars province, about 150 km northwest of the city of Shiraz. Along the river just to the right of the river is the village of Bidestan; the village of Janiabad is in the upper center.
About 75 km to the northwest, the next image comes from the center of Iran's Kohgiluyeh and Buyer-Ahmad province. The image looks to the northeast across the mountains that comprise much of the province. In the center of the image is the Kuh-e Dena mountain. At left-center is the village of Gusheh, and at right-center is the village of Pataveh.
The next image shows another view of the same area, with Kuh-e Dena in the foreground.
We now travel another 900 km northwest, to these three images from Lake Urmia in Iran's northwest corner, on the border between the East Azarbaijan and Hulagu Khan, grandson of Genghis Khan.
Here's a closer view of the islands in Lake Urmia.
The final image shows the north end of Lake Urmia. The peninsula at left is the site of the Bari Holiday Resort.
