Maldives resorts
Flickr user ron_akram posted this pair of images from the Indian Ocean nation of the Maldives. The first image shows a group of islands in the North Malé Atoll, just north of the Maldives' capital, Malé. The islands seen here are, starting in the foreground, Lankanfinolhu, Lankanfushi, and Himmafushi. Lankanfinolhu is the location of the Paradise Island Resort, and Lankanfushi is home to the Soneva Gili Resort. The resort nature of these islands can be clearly seen in the photograph by the strings of bungalows extending out into the lagoon from the islands. Himmafushi, on the other hand, has a local population, without any resorts. It is home to about 850 people.
The next image comes from further north, in the Faadhippolhu atoll. The image shows the island of Kurendhoo. It's difficult to identify an island in a low-angle view such as this one, but the line of bungalows along the right-hand side of the island exactly matches the bungalows seen in the Google Earth image.
