Borggraven Glacier, East Greenland
This image from Flickr user hjselde shows the frozen landscape of East Greenland near Cape Brewster. Running through the center of the frame is the Borggraven Glacier, which is about 4 kilometers wide at this point. Numerous smaller glaciers feed into the main glacier. The glacier flows south (to the right) a further 15 kilometers before it terminates in the waters of Vedel Fjord. Note the extent of snow cover in the landscape, in this photo taken in mid-May, 2007. The Google Earth image shown at right was probably acquired during the summer months, as it shows much less snow cover in the landscape.
