Dendritgletscher and Scoresbysund
Flickr user blank22763 posted this image of the Dendritgletscher in East Greenland, taken in September, 2004. The Dendritgletscher is one of Greenland's most spectactular glaciers, stretching for more than 90 kilometers and marked by an extensive system of medial moraines (the dark stripes along the glacier). This view faces north, looking upward along the glacier, with the terminus of the glacier about 20 km below the bottom of the frame. Just above center are the snow-covered highlands of the Geikie Plateau, and the waters of the huge Scoresbysund fjord are visible at the top of the image. For more views of this glacier, see the Dendritgletscher tag.
