Dendritgletscher, East Greenland
Here's a series of images from Flickr user alyn_smith showing the beautiful landscapes of the northern portion of East Greenland. We've been seeing lots of pictures of the Dendritgletscher lately, and the first image adds to that tally. This image looks north along the northward-flowing tributary glacier that merges into the Dendritgletscher near its terminus. The main body of the Dendritgletscher flows east toward Barclay Bay through the valley at right-center in this image.
The next two images show the scenic landscapes south of the Gåsefjord (Orqungmut Kangertiva). The fjord is named in Danish for the barnacle geese that are common in this region. In the foreground here is a semi-circular ampitheater of indented cliffs, forming the upper reaches of a glacier that flows eastward toward the Magga Dan glacier, partially visible at right above center. The frozen Gåsefjord is in the upper left.
This image again shows the Gåsefjord at right, with a wider view of the landscape to its south, and the Gåseland region to the north of the fjord visible at upper left.
