Dia Island, Greece

This image from Flickr user marshlight is a low-altitude shot of the Greek island of Dia, just north of Crete. The island is uninhabited, and serves as a habit for an endangered species of Greek deer. Unfortunately, the Google Earth coverage of Dia is very low-resolution - only the tips of the two southernmost peninsulas have high-resolution coverage. Check these peninsulas in Google Earth for a good view of the contrast between high-resolution and low-resolution imagery.

Update Nov 2008: Since this entry was first posted, Google has updated their imagery of Dia Island. Compare the Google Earth image at right to the right-hand image shown above to see the vast improvement brought by the high-resolution imagery (click the right-hand images to see larger versions).
