Nuuk landscapes
This superb series of high-resolution, beautifully lit images by Flickr user rrock_us shows the fjords and flatlands of West Greenland in the area around the capital, Nuuk. This first photo shows the southern tip of the large, flat peninsula known as Akia. The light snow cover and low angle lighting combine to highlight subtle variations in the surface texture of the land.

Sermitsiak Island, West Greenland
Low-angle sunlight creates a gold tinge in this image, showing the island of Sermitsiak in the center. The fjord in the lower left is Kangerdluarssuk.
This shot provides an excellent overview of the variety of terrain in the area around Nuuk. The Akia peninsula, seen in the first image above, is the low flat triangular area visible at left. Just above right-center is the island of Sermitsiak, seen in the image above. The capital city of Nuuk sits on the small peninsula in left center that extends from the landmass in the center towards the Akia peninsula at the left.
A low-angle view of the area seen above. In this image, Nuuk is barely visible at the far left, just below center.
