Glaciers and fjords of northeast Greenland
This superb set of high-resolution images by Flickr user bitblue shows the glaciers and fjords of far northern East Greenland. The first image, shown at right, is an overview of the glacier called Jattegletscher, which flows into the northern reaches of the large Kong Oscar Fjord complex west of Traill Island. In the foreground is an area known as Frænkel Land, while in the center is Louise Boyd Land in center.
Here's a closeup view of the glacier shown above. The small blue meltwater lake, visible just to the left of center in the top part of the glacier, can also be seen in the image above.
This view shows a small portion of the Kong Oscar Fjord complex, known as the Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord. In the right-center is Ymer Island. The area in the foreground is called Suess Land, while the area in the upper left is known as Andrée Land.
Another glacier closeup, showing the head of the Gerard de Geer Glacier as it plunges into the fjord known as Isfjord. See this post for another view of the Gerard de Geer Glacier.
